Think Outside
Peaks & Professors cultivates meaningful experiences that inspire unique conversations connecting students, faculty, and the great outdoors. By providing an avenue to think outside, Peaks & Professors encourages students and professors to form positive relationships by having intellectually curious conversations in beautiful environments.
As a trip lead, I am responsible for inviting and coordinating with professors, planning trip logistics, facilitating intellectual conversation in the great outdoors, and providing solid, responsible group leadership for the entire duration of a trip. On trips to more remote places, such as the California Channel Islands, something as simple as sourcing water for 17 people can turn into a significant challenge!
I chose to join Peaks and Professors based on a conversation I had while hiking with one of my high school teachers the summer after graduation. As students, we often forget that professors and other authority figures have an often very interesting life outside the classroom. Learning from and connecting with these professors, as well as introducing fellow students to the great outdoors, is a powerful motivation to continue leading trips.
